Evoke -The beginning
Part 1
“Sleep well John. You’re safe here.” Ani tucked her sleeping brother in and watched his closed dreaming eyes. He turned around and his hand fell out of hers. “I’m here and nothing can happen to you.” She drew two fingers along his cheek. He smiled in his sleep, but his eyebrows were wrinkled and made his nine-year-old face look so much older. She kissed his forehead, something he would never let her do if he was awake and then went to her own room to let him sleep in peace.
She took her French book and tried to study. Soon the school would be open again, and it was important to not lose track of one’s education. And even if Ani wasn’t really a talented kid that cared so much for school there was really nothing else to do. Internet was struck out since about two years. All the information the people had access to were what they got from the government sponsored radio, and it was not the kind of information you wanted to hear just before going to sleep.
She opened the book on chapter 12 but her focus was far elsewhere. She didn't really know where it was, but she absolutely knew it was not in the glossary list for chapter 12. Maybe it was with the army that had went out for war just a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was with her mother who had been killed in the last blitz or maybe it was with her father who were working late today. Just as yesterday. And the day before that. And the day before that. For almost a week Ani had had to look after her self and her little brother. The first stars started to show in the sky and Ani hurried to pull down the curtain so that the light wouldn't reveal the city, even if everyone knew this was a total waste, the enemy bomb planes was not depending on light to see its target, but still most people covered their windows as a silent act of patriotism or maybe just to get rid of the sight.
When Ani rolled down the curtain she could already see the planes approaching in the horizon. The engines reminded her of the roar of the monsters she used to see in her nightmares as a kid.
She tried to focus on her glossary, but the falling bombs made it hard to concentrate. She tried to turn on the radio, but it just sparkled for a moment and then want blank. The bombs fell closer to the house every second and the sound really started to sound like great monsters flying above her. Then the lights went out.
It was at the time when the first stars started to show that Vir stepped out of the door that led him into the world of Men, of Flesh and of Measure. Vir, the Angel, had been sent on the mission to protect the human being Aniara, the one whom the King himself had chosen to use in the rescuing of his loved ones, but even a Warrior sometimes need protection, especially at times like this when the battle for the World of Measure was standing and when she was to play one of the leading roles.
The landscape was far from beautiful with bombed houses as long as the eye could reach and the presence of all sorts of enemies didn't improve the looks of the once so great Valde City. Vir the Angel took a deep breath under his disguise and wondered still where he should start his noble quest.
He saw the bombing from the roof on which he stood. It was a grey city, painted with fire from the enemy of flesh, and painted with the evil of an army of spirits, an army of creatures that could twist human minds as easy as a kid twists a chewing gum and break a human mind as easy as a lollipop stick. But that was not all he saw, he saw his friends and brothers from the army of good, black sword against white sword, and though the fight was uneven it was not hopeless. If he just found Aniara it might be easier. In the middle of the city inside some kind of walls stood a statue of a woman, and Vir decided to study it closer. A tourist attraction like that might have a map, and Aniara the Warrior was of course someone everyone wished to meet.
The statue was of a beautiful woman, not very attractive, but still beautiful. It gave one the feeling of a strange security, but still there was something unsure about it. As Vir watched it he saw a sign below it;
”The Statue of Valde, Ancient queen of Verumia in Verumian mythology.
According to Demaistos, the famous story writer she was turned into stone by an evil demon king called Cagay when she refused to marry him.
In the ancient days these statues were popular and many of them were called ‘Statue of Valde.’ Today only a few of them remains and this is one of them. 1874 it came to this museum and has been here ever since. Before it stood in the royal…”
The text continued, but Vir didn’t read on. He stood there for a while, in front of the statue. She looked sad he thought, but he guessed the artist had made her sad. Vir felt sad to. It was like if when he left this statue everything behind him would turn into a dream, or that everything in front of him was a nightmare and if he took just one more step he would never wake up. One moment he just stood still and then he threw himself out to this unsafe future with the dangerous task to find the Warrior. Aniara.
Part 2
There was something very frightening about the darkness around her, Ani thought. Everything was so loud, but the darkness made everything seem so still. Sometimes red flashlights of fire lit up the room and casted big shadows closer to her where she sat on the bed.

Du är så bra Jojjo! Jag vill läsa mer! :P Jag tycker om hur du har skildrat kärleken mellan Ani och John, och det allra sista i sista stycket. Det om känslan av att vara i en mardröm. Keep it up my lovely friend!<3
